| I finally decided to start doing some real mods to my Mustang and I
thought I'd start with a better shifter. After asking around, I've
heard nothing but good things about the Steeda Tri-Ax. Many people
are even using the Tri-Ax handle on other shifters.
I did had a couple problems with it. First of all, it took a week after I ordered it before they even shipped it! Coincidentally, the UPS tracking page shows they shipped it just hours after I called to find out the status of it! Secondly, I don't know how this got by their QC, but the top of the shifter housing was bolted onto the bottom backward! This is illustrated in the first 2 pictures below. The first picture is from their catalog and the 2nd is the shifter I got. Clearly it is on backward! It was a very easy install, even for someone who does not do this type of thing much. The hardest part was getting out the top left bolt holding down the inner boot because I could not get a socket on it and I kept busting my knuckles with the open end wrench! The shifter works great. Handle position is perfect, ya don't have to stretch to shift into the forward gears at all. Throws are nice and short making for some quick shifts. This shifter is a definite improvement over stock. |
