Painting Mustang Brake Calipers

6/5/99
I've wanted to paint my calipers since I got my Mustang 3 years ago.  I finally got around to doing it.  It's very easy to do and the total cost was $5.00 ($3 for paint and $2 for brake cleaner) and an afternoon.
I wasn't sure what to paint and what not to paint, so I took the cautious route and masked off anything I wasn't sure about.  Most of it doesn't show with the wheel on, so it probably didn't matter.
I used Plastikote Engine Enamel in Ford Red.  It says it withstands temperatures up to 500 degrees (F) so it should be ok.  I sprayed on 3 coats waiting 1/2 hour for each coat.
The most time consuming part was masking everything off, but it wasn't too bad.  The results are awesome!  The pictures don't do it justice.  Even with the wheel on, it really stands out.
