I wanted to move up to 35" tires, so it was going to require more lift. My James Duff system B 3.5" lift was great for 33" tires, but 35s would be too close. I got some 11 leaf 4.5" lift National springs and 4.5" lift coils from BC Broncos. Before the installation I measured all 4 corners from the floor to the top of the bumpers. I measured again once the new springs were on. 3 corners went up 2 inches and one corner went up 3 inches! I got a lot more lift than I expected, but it may settle a little as it gets broken in.
Need longer brake line in the rear May need longer driveshaft in back Need longer or inboard shocks Once we got the lift on we decided to go play on some nearby trails. There were a couple inches of snow on the ground, so it made it interesting. At one point I was going up a slight incline and my right wheels got stuck in a rut on the right side of the trail. Where I wanted to go didn't count for much in the snow, so I decided to just run the length of the rut. As I neared the end of the rut my front end suddenly leapt out the the rut and darted toward the left side of the trail and right into a tree! My wheels must have been cranked to the left when I thought they were straight. End of bumer bent back 2-3 inches. Edge of grill cunched and bent back an inch or so. Fender tweeked from grill pushing it back. Broken marker light Mangled chrome strip |
